We're definately moving. We're back home today (got the electricity back yesterday we think), though we don't have hot or drinkable tap water. We're getting tetanus shots today and registering for assistance perhaps in moving. Also, my car needs to be towed away. And laundry.

We're exhausted but alive.

Also, I just switched my puppet accounts except [info]sweariwontdie and [info]secret_orchard to Basic Accounts. There isn't much else I can do except back things up.

The last two days have been all about cars. We went car shopping yesterday. Test drove two cars, and then Chris (and me) fell in love with a bright yellow two-door Ford Focus. It's his now. His and the bank's. Starbug contributed as a trade-in. Poor dead thing.

The Stratus is technically mine now. Me and Chris are going to juggle insurances and plates and titles next week, and as I get money.

And an amusing note in my search for Malcolm Jamieson. I ran across the site for the company that distributes the Enid Blyton Adventure Series that was his last credit on IMDb.  None of the actors names are mentioned, which is why I didn't find it before. The character he plays is apparently a Scotsman who is a secret agent. Since it's one of those "the children always save the day" sets of stories, he can't be all that competent a secret agent, but reading the synopses, he seems mostly hampered by being asked to work when he's on vacation, trying to court a pretty widow and keep her active pile of kids out of trouble. There's lots of boats and secret caverns and running around in exotic locations. I kinda wish the series were aviable on DVD. We'll never get it here, even on PBS.

My transmission is dead. And likely not worth repairing.

My car is not dead. It does need a new water pump, though it may be ready to pick up tomorrow. Yay!

I whined at Chris for a ride this a.m. Even though I went to bed shortly after 8 p.m. last night, the first I did when I woke up this morning was burst into tears, because I'm so tired. So yay. I get a little longer to pull myself together.

They don't exist here. I can't find one. I am very sad. No Bojangles. No Biscuitville. I need to find out if any of the fast food restaurants other than McDonald's happen to have one.

Cars are nice though. I went to church.

This is the car bought by friends!

And I thank you all so very, very much.

I got my plates and stickers and picked up the car yesterday. She still needs brakes done. I have named her Starbug. This icon is not an actual picture of my car, but of one of her twins, apparently for sale in British Columbia.

First of all, my birth certificate arrived yesterday. It only cost about $70 and two and a half months to get. So I took myelf out to celebrate. Not to eat, for once. I went out and bought lip balm/gloss and girly things. Those Burt's Bees Lip Shimmers are interesting and much darker than I'd expected. I bought a pack of four and a Dirty Girl lip balm plus two Healing Garden body mists and a lotion (all the teeny bottles). Then I went to Borders and bought Dreams Made Flesh by Anne Bishop and the anniversary paperback edition of Foreigner by CJ Cherryh. I think Chris will like Bren so I want him to read these.

I feel somewhat relieved though things are pretty shaky at work. I could walk in to get fired any day now. The only way I know to deal with that is to divorce myself from all caring about the job.

Tomorrow I get my driver's license for Illinois!

I got the title today. And... it's older than we thought, but it really is in amazing shape considering.

I am about two weeks away from maybe being able to getting it on the road.

Got my insurance quote.

Researching about getting the registration done.

Need to get my Illinois license.

I got mail from [info]stagemanager and [info]darkoshi today. Everything seemed to arrive intact! Thank you, guys, from the bottom of my heart.

And a bit of a surprise last birthday present from [info]oloriel. Gilles Chiasson's solo CD! *squees*

I am much cheered even though there was an awful registered letter from somebody I owe money to as well.

because I'll make this work if it kills me even without help...

I am buying a car. It only costs $300. I'm buying it from a coworker. I am giving him $150 on Monday, the rest the next paycheck and praying to have the $200 or so to get the tags the next week (and the insurance). The problem with this too-good-to-be-passed-over opportunity is that it will delay me paying Osy and Gina back quickly enough to save up for moving in June/July.

So I am asking my friendslist for suggestions on specific fundraising or if there are any possible donations/loans still out there.

I am going to talk to my stepdad tonight. I may even write my 'real' father and ask. Just over $500 is so little if you think about what I am going to be getting for it.

ETA: I'm already thinking of picking up extra hours at work. Maybe just one really long day a week or one week on, one week off of extra hours.
